OpenERP partner since early 2008…
Akretion is the first official OpenERP partner in Brazil, we are partner since August 2009. However, our experience with OpenERP roots much deeper than that. Akretion founder Raphaël Valyi was mandated by one of the major open source integrator, Smile.fr, to compare the several available open source ERP’s in late 2007. OpenERP has soon been identified as the most promising, leading to a partnership between Smile.fr and OpenERP S.A. in 2008 and 2009 (Smile was also and Openbravo partner in 2008). So before founding Akretion, Raphaël Valyi founded the ERP division at Smile.fr, getting official training from OpenERP creator, Fabien Pinckaers, and training back a half dozen of French engineers between 2008 and 2009. We now integrated OpenERP in nearly a dozen of companies, a large part of them being Akretion customers.
For us, partnering with OpenERP is a natural way to show our committment toward the people that create such sophisticated products as OpenERP since we believe that ERP’s are too complex and not popular enough to be purely community oriented products, at some point they need the commitment of highly skilled and dedicated professionals, that means OpenERP S.A. need a money feedback at some point. So, behind being among the 15 most contributing people, we are also proud to be official partners, but we promise it, we will keep our liberty of speech toward any editor, so when we feel something is wrong with OpenERP, we just tell it and you can count on us to keep doing so. To be frank we also keep an eye on Tryton ERP which we believe bring several improvements over OpenERP even if we don’t consider it very viable yet on our main market, the Brazilian one.
DMD2 strategical partnership on Magento
DMD2 is a small innovative IT company located in Maceio, North Brazil. DMD2 came to us early due to their interest in OpenERP and the Magento ecommerce. They made the design of the Brazilian OpenERP portal http://www.openerpbrasil.org/. Akretion made the CMS logic on the top of the Radiant Ruby on Rails CMS. Since then we partnered with DMD2 for the full blown OpenERP – Magento projects: Akretion takes care of the OpenERP logic and connection to Magento while DMD2 offers their design and ecommerce skills on the Magento ecommerce.
Openlabs strategical partnership on the Magento OpenERP connector
Akretion is the co-developper, along with Openlabs of the Magento OpenERP “magentoerpconnect” connector. Akretion founder Raphaël Valyi started a Magento connector prototype while at Smile.fr in fall 2008. Unfortunately, a few months later, that experiment has been discontinued by Smile.fr which still was claiming a strong ownership of the project. This lead to frustration among the users/developers community. In Spring 2009, Sharoon Thomas, Openlabs founder felt the need to rewrite the code completely from scratch upon a cleaner basis and started the “magentoerpconnect” project. A few months later, Akretion assumed half of the new development effort. Specially Openlabs focused on the product and multi’s data-models while Akretion focused on the order importation and multi’s generic abstraction.
